Alejandro Cruz

Alejandro Cruz is a Los Angeles based artist, who was born and raised in México City. At the age of 16, Alejandro and his family immigrated to the United States, and settled in Lynwood, CA where he went on to attend Lynwood High School. Upon graduating from Lynwood High, he continued his education at El Camino College and later at California State University of Fullerton, where he received a bachelor’s in fine arts in 2006.

Alejandro’s interest in art began at an early age, and he credits this interest to his father, and the encyclopedia he once brought him. As he skimmed through the encyclopedia and soaked the knowledge, he came across the art section where he discovered the art of Salvador Dali. It became very prominent that Alejandro not only had an infatuation with art, but he had a true talent. At the age of 12, he began taking art classes, where he learned to perfect his skills. Once at Lynwood High, he enrolled in art courses, where his art teacher quickly noticed Alejandro’s talent. His art teacher then proposed to him a project, where he got the opportunity to paint a mural for the city of Bell Gardens. This project opened many doors, and it granted him the opportunity of a lifetime.

Alejandro has continued to develop his art with a particular interest in portrait painting and mural work. He was hired by the Toyota Corporation, to paint portraits of their top executives. He has had solos and collective exhibitions at the Croatian Cultural Center, Cal State Fullerton, and El Camino College. His life motto is, “Never be afraid to make art.” See less
