Guadalupe Beatriz Ávalos Prado (Lupita) was born in Vista Hermosa, Michoacán, México, where going along with the rhythm of small-town life, she met and married her now-husband at age 14. Lupita gave birth to five girls and wanted to secure a better future for their family, so the young couple soon chased their dreams of starting a business in California. The harsh reality of leaving behind her family and support system and starting a new life in a new country proved difficult.

Undeterred, Lupita and her husband began building the foundation for what would eventually become Taquería Vista Hermosa. First, they began selling food at family parties and then they graduated to a taco cart located on Florence and Compton. Street violence forced Lupita and her husband to reconsider their business. They were on the verge of giving up on their dream when they saw a community service announcement on television announcing opportunities for vendors at Esperanza Community Housing’s up and coming marketplace. For Lupita this was a godsend, she encouraged her husband to call and much to their surprise someone answered triggering what would be a life altering experience.

Lupita devoted much of her life and energy to supporting the growth of their small family business and can often be found in the Taqueria Vista Hermosa kitchen, ensuring that the food going out meets her high standards. One of Lupita’s greats accomplishments has been building a successful business despite facing many trials and tribulations along the way. However, Lupita is most proud of raising her five daughters to be independent women who are committed to achieving their own dreams.
