Regina Slaughter was born and raised in Los Angeles where at the young age of 13 she joined a gang and quickly became entrenched in a perilous lifestyle that would come to last almost 16 years. Growing up, as the second oldest of nine kids, Regina helped raise her siblings and in spite of having little guidance, she always excelled in school. Regina later attended West Los Angeles College where she majored in journalism, unfortunately, Regina’s struggle with addiction prematurely ended this endeavor. After running the streets of South Los Angeles, Regina made her way to Tucson, Arizona with hopes of turning her life around, but soon found herself facing a much worse fate.

While in Tucson, Regina experienced the loss of her boyfriend after he committed suicide. Regina recalls going through a dark period of time and the inability to cope with the death of her then boyfriend almost led to the loss of her own life. She later met another boyfriend who encouraged her to call the Amity Foundation after he was arrested and saw her going down the same road. Reluctant to heed his advice, Regina finally made the call and on the path to healing she discovered her purpose. Today, Regina is the Vice President of Amity California Services, a teaching and therapeutic community that assists individuals on parole with reentry services and helps take them from prisoner number to name to dignity.

Regina considers herself a healer of the soul and heart whose depth and breadth of experience encompasses helping to heal individuals and families. Regina has also contributed to the success and expansion of the Amity Foundation by spearheading the opening of 20 different locations across the country, including Texas, Albuquerque, Los Lunas, and in South Los Angeles at Mercado La Paloma.
